My name is Kim Rodriguez and I’m Harry’s friend and landlord.

Harry is 56 years old and lives a simple, humble life. He’s one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever meet. He loves his friends, his family, and his faith in Jesus. Harry truly enjoys being around people and has a special gift for making everyone laugh with his silly “dad jokes.” He’s also one of the hardest workers I know, having worked as a maintenance man for over 30 years.

Two weeks ago, Harry suffered a stroke. Then last Sunday, he experienced two more strokes that severely weakened the left side of his body — his face, arm, leg, and foot. His speech and ability to communicate have been greatly affected, and he is now struggling with swallowing as well.

His doctors have recommended acute speech, physical, and occupational therapy every day to give him the best chance at a strong and speedy recovery. Unfortunately, even though Harry has health insurance through his employer, his insurance has refused to cover acute or subacute rehab facilities where he could receive daily therapy. Instead, outpatient therapy will only allow him one session of each therapy per week, which will significantly slow his recovery and delay his return to work.

Like many hardworking Americans, Harry lives paycheck to paycheck. With no income coming in during his recovery, he has no way to cover his basic living expenses over the next few months.

Harry has spent his life helping others without hesitation. Now, he needs our help.
