Harry & Joan Wasson- after effects of Kona Low Storm

Donation protected
Aloha everyone,

My name is Honey, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my parents who live in Laie, Harry and Joan Wasson, after the recent Kona Low storm that hit O’ahu. The storm caused severe damage to their home, car, and nearly all of their belongings leaving them with very little as they try to recover and rebuild. Everything that they’ve worked so hard to build over the years was taken in a matter of hours and they are now facing the overwhelming reality of starting over with so much uncertainty ahead.

Their home is elevated about 5 ft. off the ground yet the floodwaters still rose to knee level inside damaging appliances, furniture, personal belongings, and stored food. As we’ve continued the cleanup and restoration process, we’ve come to understand that the damage is more severe than we initially believed. We later discovered that mud and debris had made their way into the walls meaning the damage goes beyond what is visible and will require extensive repairs.

As of right now, they are facing a long and difficult road to recovery and the costs to repair their home and replace what was lost are more than they can manage alone.
For this reason, we are reaching out for your support during this time. Anything helps and your support truly makes a meaningful difference in helping them rebuild and move forward, we are sincerely grateful for your kindness. Mahalo!
