My father, a 97 year old WWII Army Air Corp veterans home was completely destroyed in the "Camp" fire in Northern California.
He and my mom moved there in 1985 as their retirement home. After mom passed in 1999 all the memories and mementos mom collected were all that dad had left.
Several years ago, my sister Kathy Loth moved in with him and has been helping him out since. The morning of November 8th they were told to get out now! The fire was moving so quickly they barely had time to pack a suitcase.
For the 9 days we prayed that their home would be safe from the fire. Late yesterday we checked the Cal Fire website and found that their home was completely destroyed as you can see in the picture. The garage was also demolished. Everything they owned was in that home and is now nothing more that a memory.
My goal is to raise enough money to help them with the clean up of the home site, and to help pay for their living expenses while doing so. They have gone to my Sister Patty's house in Southern California about 10 hour drive away. They can not do what they need to from that distance.
I would like to see donations start to roll in within the next week or so to help defray living expenses (hotels, meals, replacement clothing) until they officials open the roads and start allowing people back in. Once that happens they will need to get the site cleaned up and sift through the ashes to see if anything remains and then start the rebuild process.
Insurance companies take a long time to respond and they can't do it alone.
Thank you and God Bless.
