Harrison’s Lightweight Wheelchair

Donation protected
Harrison was born prematute at 29 weeks. He contracted influenza A, which resulted in severe brain damage, being diagnosed at 9 months old with Cerebral palsy and global learning delay.

Cerebral palsy is the name for a group of life long conditions that affect movement and coordination, caused by a problem with the brain that occurs before, during or soon after birth.

We were told at the time of diagnosis that Harrison will be unable to speak, sit up, crawl, and walk, amongst other cruel symptoms.
Harrison is now 5 years old, he’s sitting up, he’s talking and signing, he has a wheelchair that he self-propels himself, along with a walking frame that he uses for short distances. He’s started his second year at a special school that encourages his confidence and independence.

We are constantly looking for ways to help Harrison meet his full potential and are in the process of looking at a lightweight wheelchair to allow him more freedom.
Any ‘disability’  equipment always comes at a higher price tag and we are aware of the cost of these chairs.

On the 6th July 2019, Brad (Harrison’s Uncle) and good friend Deano will be braving the trails of Brecon Beacons in the TrekFest event. Not only will we be tested to the limits with challenging climbs and steep descents but we are taking on the extended 50km route!! Looks like we had better put the training in.

Any donations you can provide to help towards the cost of a chair, would be greatly received and appreciated.

UPDATE 14/11/18: When Deano and I thought up the idea of raising some money, we never in a million years thought we’d get anything near what we have managed to raise already, hence why we set the target sum at £800 in the hopes of helping towards the cost of Harrison’s wheelchair. Why not see how far we can go and push as much as we can towards covering the whole cost of a ‘Simba’ type specialist wheelchair at £2050. Once again, i am overwhelmed with the support we have received so far and we haven’t even put our walking boots on yet! Thank you.

UPDATE 31/5/19

Hi everyone. Just want to say a huge thank you for helping us reach the target for Harrison's lightweight wheelchair.

With still over 6 weeks to go we have decided to increase the target but to help another cause. Last month Deanos dad suffered cardiac arrest, if it wasn't for the quick thinking of his mom doing CPR and the intensive care unit at city hospital he wouldn't be alive today and back on the mend. We would like to raise more money for 2 Dyson Cool Fans which are vital to keeping paitents temperature down on the intensive care suite. Give as much or a little, it is all for a good cause and we appreciate every donation!
