Our happy, loving, and determined 9-year-old son Harrison has shown incredible strength throughout his life. Born at just 27 weeks, weighing only 2.5lbs, he fought through his first weeks in intensive care. At 18 months he was diagnosed with Asymmetric Bilateral Cerebral Palsy, and later with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a Language Disorder.
Despite these challenges, Harrison continues to amaze everyone he meets with his smile, courage, and resilience.
Over the years Harrison has worked tirelessly to reach milestones most of us take for granted—rolling over at 18 months, crawling at 2, walking with a frame at 3, and taking his first independent steps at age 8 after a major spinal surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. This operation helped reduce painful muscle stiffness, but ongoing strength and mobility training are essential for him to keep progressing.
As Harrison grows, his muscles struggle to keep up with his bone development. Without intensive and consistent therapy, he risks further mobility issues and may require more invasive surgeries. He currently relies on splints, walking frames, and wheelchairs—all of which need regular adjustments as he gets older.
Harrison has already benefited from a wide range of therapies, interventions, and specialised support, but many of the services that help him most are costly and not fully covered.
Why We’re Asking for Help
To give Harrison the best chance at a more independent future, we hope to fund:
- Increased physiotherapy and strength training
- Access to specialised mobility equipment
- Additional therapy to support his speech, confidence, and overall development
Harrison will also be taking on a 6-month personal challenge—a huge test of both his physical and mental strength—to build his confidence and show everyone just how heroic he truly is.
Every donation, big or small, helps us give Harrison the opportunities he deserves.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for supporting our amazing boy.
