Harrison Ford’s fight against Crohn’s

Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly Johnson, and I met this sweet family through Herriman high basketball. I was instantly inspired and touched by Kim’s incredible strength and positivity. Soon after getting to know what Kim has gone through and is still going through with brain cancer, I found out about the major health battles that Harrison also has been living with. I reached out, and even though I haven’t known the Ford’s for years, I had a feeling that this might not be something that they would accept. For those of you that don’t know this family personally, I’ll just tell you that they are HARD HARD working folks. Kim is currently staying with Harrison in the hospital overnight, and then leaves to teach preschool  during the day while her husband does his half of the day at the hospital and then they swap off again. As a mom of a teen boy who is the same age, I will tell you... this kiddo is one TOUGH COOKIE! Watching Harry on the court, you would never in a million years know he’s sick. He plays with SO much heart. He never wants sympathy, and until recently, none of the other kids had any idea that he fights such big battles with his health.

I asked Kim if she could give an up to date account of where things currently sit for Harrison’s health, and this is what she had to say... Harrison was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis/Crohn’s disease at the age of 9. He’s put up a courageous fight to control the diseases. He’s been through more than 80 infusions, medications and chronic pain for 6 years. Missing more than 60 days of school each year. Despite all the efforts this past March after being hospitalize several times we found out he would need to have 3-4 major operations to save his life. We started his journey April 14. They removed his large intestine, colon, and appendix leaving him with an Ostomy bag. 1 week later he had a set back and ended up needed another operation. They found he had devolved a major complication from his first operation. He now is fighting a bad infection through out  his body. The complication has made it so he will need an extra operation. In the next 5 months he will have 3 more operations.

I don’t know about you, but my heart hurts when parents have to watch their children suffer, but to also have to worry about the financial side of things is just too much. I just believe that they MORE than deserve some huge hugs in support right now, whether it be through prayers, encouragement, donations, or maybe a meal.
