Hi, My name is Laura and my kids go to Harrison Avenue School and LMK. As many of you know, today our beloved crossing guard Joann Taranto was hit by a car while helping our community's children cross the street at the intersection of Matthew Street and Nelson Avenue. She was immediately rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. She is suffering from broken bones in both of her legs, and will need many weeks of hospitalization and therapy. In order to help the family through this very challenging time, we are raising money to help cover any unforeseen medical or legal bills. As an update, Joann is doing well and recovering.  Her daughter Victoria Efferen has been helping her along with her recovery, and will help Joann manage the funds we have raised though this Gofundme page.  They hope to find help within the community once Joann is able to come home.
