Dimanche 23 Novembre, la famille Harrington/Knight se lance dans une course familiale de 10 km pour célébrer la guérison incroyable d’Ella et pour récolter des fonds pour une cause qui nous tient énormément à cœur.

Le fait qu’Ella coure avec nous, à peine 9 mois après son terrible accident, c’est la preuve du soin exceptionnel qu’elle a reçu pendant toute sa rééducation — mais aussi de son immense courage et de sa détermination sans faille.

Quand on est arrivés à Toulouse, sans savoir à quoi s’attendre ni combien de temps on allait rester, on nous a parlé d’un petit hôtel juste à côté de l’hôpital, réservé aux familles des patients. On a été accueillis avec tellement de chaleur et tout de suite rassurés : il y aurait des chambres pour nous, aussi longtemps qu’on en aurait besoin. À un moment, on en occupait même quatre ! Les tarifs sont vraiment accessibles et adaptés aux moyens de chacun.

Le Laurier Rose est une asso à but non lucratif, gérée principalement par des bénévoles. On aimerait vraiment leur rendre un peu de ce qu’ils nous ont offert, en les soutenant financièrement pour qu’ils puissent continuer à aider d’autres familles comme la nôtre.

Nos chambres étaient à 5 minutes à pied du service de réanimation neurologique. Le petit déjeuner était compris, et on pouvait entrer et sortir à toute heure de la nuit.

Mais surtout, le personnel était bienveillant, compréhensif et incroyablement gentil — et jamais dérangé par l’invasion de la grande famille d’Ella !

Alors s’il vous plaît, aidez-nous à les aider, pour qu’ils puissent continuer à offrir ce soutien si précieux aux familles de patients.

On Sunday 23rd November , the Harrington/Knight family are running a family 10K to celebrate Ella's amazing recovery and to raise money for a very worthy cause.

The fact that Ella will be running with us, just 9 months after her horrible accident is a testimony to the incredible care she received during all stages of her recovery, and to her own enormous courage and determination.

When we arrived in Toulouse not knowing what to expect or how long we would need to be there we were told about a small hotel on site at the hospital, specifically for the use of families of patients. We were warmly greeted and reassured that rooms would be available for us for as long as we needed. At one point we were using four of their rooms. The prices are hugely subsidised and based on a person's ability to pay.

Le Laurier Rose is run as a not for profit organisation with most of the work done by volunteers. We would very much like to be able to give back to them some financial support in recognition of all they did to help us through what was a difficult time.

Our rooms were only a five minute walk from the neurological Intensive Care Wards. Breakfast was included and we could come and go at all times of night.

Far more importantly than that the staff were supportive, understanding and very kind and not at all put out by the invasion of Ella's large family!
