Hi, my name is Harriet, and I am fundraising for a Smoov power attachment for my wheelchair so that I can pursue my dream of going to uni to become a Radiographer with the NHS.

In the past year, my health has declined significantly. I've gone from a young girl who loved to go on long walks and take part in performances, to struggling to walk around my house and spending whole days in bed. I currently use a wheelchair to get around which has been paramount for my freedom, however navigating the uneven terrain in North Wales is often tiring and painful, so I am very limited by where I can go. A power assist, such as the Smoov, will allow me to keep up with my fellow students and co-workers. It will help to conserve my limited energy so I can commit more time training to become a radiographer. And most importantly, I will be able to just live my life as a 20 year old, independent and free.

I have been working with Access Your Life to apply to some charity grants to help fund this essential adaptation - however, charities often only fund a £1-2k portion of the full cost. The Smoov power assist, which is the most suitable option for my needs due to it's flexibility, lightweight structure and small profile, costs £4,863 in total, which is why I have set up this fundraiser so I can hopefully get closer to my goal of purchasing this power assist attachment.
