Harper Claar's Journey to Beat Cancer

March 25, 2021 - A New Scare
Journal entry by Aaron Claar ( Harpers Father) — Mar 25, 2021
I'm writing this morning because I don't know what tomorrow will bring. I struggled last night whether to share news of our recent CT scans. Partly hesitant because results of the scans are more of a wait and see for the next six weeks. I don't anticipate to have any indication that something may be wrong until we go back for our next scans. We're told it is unlikely we'll see any external signs prior to our next appointment.

There are two new areas of concern in Harper's lungs which were not present in her scans we took recently in September. One is of less concern. I attached a picture of the mass that we're hopeful is nothing indicative of a new growth of cancer. There's nothing we can do but wait until next scan to determine next steps. If this nodule grows, we'll schedule surgery for removal.

We're trying to remain faithful, and positive. I'm currently overwhelmed and not doing a great job keeping myself from dreading the unknown. Harper's resurgence of cancer in her leg should not have been possible, and yet it came back in the same leg. The mass that grew came back aggressively and was substantial within just seven weeks. We're waiting six weeks before next scan, and the necessity to wait any more time for more news is heart wrenching to me.

The next six weeks will be tough. I will move forward in faith. I don't want to get overly worried until we know more, but we've already been through so much, and the uncertainty is weighing on me. Today, Harper's feeling good, looking good, and in great spirits. Funds are extremely limited, but we'll still be making a point to create some memorable moments we can enjoy together as a family over the next month and a half to help alleviate our minds from the stress of the recent news, and the wait that's ahead.

See Harper's Caring Bridge https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/harperclaar for more details of her 2 year battle with Cancer.  Harper just finished a year inpatient at Children's Mercy Hospital.  She has lost her leg and now we wait on news shared above by her father.  We are in a very narrow window for Harper to be at home and to experience life.  Funds will be managed for Harper in trust to ensure she has security for today and hope for tomorrow. Please pray for miraculous healing and love for this family.
