Some of you know my fur child Harley, she is the sweetest most fun loving animal around. For the past 6 years she has been my only child with the acception of her human step sister (hahaha). Harley will also be gaining another sibling (a little brother) in June! She is so excited, she rests her head on my belly when she sleeps, I know she can hear/feel/sense him in there!
How this all started; Harley had been limping for a couple weeks on and off and I thought “oh no! Not another torn ACL”, I took her into the vet and was sent home with anti inflammatory medicine. After another couple weeks with it not getting noticeably better I took her to another vet hospital who did X-rays, that’s when it all went down hill. The Dr. asked us a bunch of questions but ultimately told us he thought Harley had osteosarcoma in her right rear femur bone. He sent us home with antibiotics and lots of pain meds in the offchance it was just an infection. After 2 more weeks and Harley becoming more and more lame in that leg we decided to see an oncologist, after more X-rays and blood tests they decided she’d be a great candidate for amputation. My heart is braking. How can anyone get news that their baby is hurting and may not be around to much longer... I’m having a hard time coming to terms that around the same time I’ll be bringing my first (human) child into this world I’ll be losing my first fur child! I have most of the surgery costs covered but need a little more help, unfortunately my savings for this baby have shifted to my other babies needs at this point. While dealing with all of this (as if not enough) Harley’s grandpa (my father) and #1 supporter of this decision for surgery just had a major heart attack and semi accident and is no longer able to help financially as we had planned. This account is only being made after very careful consideration and a little help/push from close friends and family who genuinely care. I wouldn’t ask if this didn’t mean the absolute world to me! ❤️
