Harley: Paralysed and found in a landfill site in Turkey.
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Yvette and I run a small dog foster/rescue service onboard my 70ft barge called Yaffle. We call our service, Wags on Water and we have rescued and rehomed 21 dogs in the last 5 years. We are not a charity and most expenses are covered by ourselves or by donations from followers.
Let me tell you about our latest dog needing help. His name is Harley and he has had a heartbreaking start to life. Found in February 2024 in a frozen landfill site in Fethiye in Turkey, Harley was paralysed and dragging himself through the rubbish trying to stay alive. He was competing with 30+ able bodied dogs to find food. He was found by Isobel of the charity Help Street Cats and Dogs. https://www.facebook.co

I found out about Harley whilst stood beside the charities volunteer Isobel at an animal welfare protest. Once I saw the videos of his desperate situation, I offered my help. I saw a little dog who was fiercely wanting to live. Harley came into my care on 12-10-24 and I have been busy sorting out his routine and understanding his needs. He is partially paralysed in his back legs and doubly incontinent. He has sores on his back paws and will be seeing a vet on the 18-10-24 to see what he medically needs.
I have a wish list of equipment he needs in order to be able to live a full, comfortable and
happy life both now and into the future. Number one on the list is a wheelchair, in order that he can regain some independence. Next he needs drag bags for indoors to protect his back legs when pulling himself along the floor. Also needed are belly bands, braces (to hold up nappies) cohesive bandages (for his back feet) waterproof bedding
and cleaning solution to deal with toileting accidents. He would also benefit from a hygiene clip at the groomers to make keeping him clean easier. None of this is cheap and Harley needs your help. He is only a puppy and clearly hasn't given up on life. He could potentially live a long life, so it's important that we get this started in the UK in the best possible way.
I know times are tough and we are grateful for all and any help. If you are unable to donate to Harleys Wish List, then please share this GoFundMe with your family and friends. Let's try to show Harley that he is important and deserving something better than to be thrown in a landfill. Thank you from myself and Harley x
