Harleigh's Battle
Donation protected
Meet Harleigh Jade Wells. From pictures and videos, Harleigh seems like your typical, rambunctious, full-of-energy 2-year-old girl. She loves the Minions, stickers, and all the other girly things you can think of. But, looks can be deceiving. On April 5th, 2022, life changed quickly for sweet Harleigh, her mom, Carley and Dad, Bruce.
After complaining of severe knee pain, Harleigh was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). B-ALL is cancer that affects your “B lymphocytes,” which are white blood cells that grow in the soft center of your bones, called marrow. B lymphocytes are supposed to grow into cells that help the body fight off infection, but with B-ALL, these cells turn into leukemia cells, which live longer and reproduce faster than normal cells.
While this cancer is one of the most common in children and is treatable, every day presents new challenges. Harleigh is being treated at CS Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is 3 hours away from her home. Bruce and Carley, Harleigh’s parents, are committed to standing beside their sweet baby girl while she fights this awful disease. Harleigh's treatment plan calls for 24 months of treatment...that's two years of travel, utilities, food and everyday expenses that this sweet family must endure.
Due to limited work availability, their income has been drastically reduced. With unprecedented inflation and the rising costs of food and gasoline, the small amount of money they can come up with is gone quickly, leaving Mom and Dad to worry about more than just Harleigh’s battle. Rent, car payments, auto insurance, food, utilities, hygiene items, and other basic life necessities are daily worries for a Mom and Dad who are already scared to death. As they comfort Harleigh during the required, painful procedures she must endure, they constantly worry about putting food on the table and ensuring their power bill is paid. How fair is that?
Proceeds raised through this Go-Fund me will ensure this family's financial needs are taken care of, so they can focus on standing beside their precious Daughter while she battles this horrible disease. No donation is too small, and every dime raised is appreciated. Once the goal is met, any additional funds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
