Hey everyone, I’m trying to raise funds for this sweet, young girl, Harla. Harla became very I’ll very fast on Saturday, November 12th and was seen by her primary veterinarian. Since Saturday Harla has received a diagnosis of IMHA - When your dog has IMHA, it means his immune system destroys its own red blood cells. Your dog’s body still produces red blood cells in the bone marrow to replace the destroyed cells, but once they are released into circulation, the immune system mistakenly recognizes them as something foreign, like a virus or infection, and destroys them. This condition is also referred to as autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA). Since her diagnosis on Saturday Harla has needed 2 separate blood transfusions, hospitalization & special care. As of 7pm today, November 16th Harla is being admitted to another Emergency Veterinary hospital for a 3rd blood transfusion. During the course of today, we have received the same medical option from 3 board certified internal medicine specialists and 1 board certified critical care specialist- Harla’s body is trying very hard to bring her red cells back up and with the right care and a little bit more time she should be able to pull through! As of today, Harla’s owner Dave has paid out of pocket for all of her medical care. These funds are solely to ensure Harla can continue to receive the care she needs, as she is expected to need at least one more transfusion and will be receiving a special medication (IVIG) via infusion tomorrow which alone will cost $2,700. Harla is the absolute sweetest dog I have ever worked with and has a lot of fight left to give!
