It’s been a crazy 24 hours for Hardy. He’s currently still at Irvine Valley Emergency vet..
For some reason he had an upset tummy yesterday. We left the house for about an hour and in that time he ate all four big pee pads which is extremely out of character for him. He never chews or eats anything so this really surprised and concerned us. He then threw up to try to help himself. Well, he threw up his very important seizure meds and we couldn’t get him to keep the meds down. Without meds, he went into seizure withdrawals and had breakthrough seizure clusters. We immediately rushed him to emergency to get stabilized. Luckily before the car ride I was able to get one of his anticonvulsant meds in and he kept it down. This helped him to stop seizing a bit.
He’s been hospitalized since last night 5/2/24. His seizures are stable and he’s been able to take his seizure meds through IV.
Now the BIG ISSUE is the blockage in his stomach. Due to his seizures, right now they can’t force him to throw up and can’t surgery because it may trigger a seizure episode so all we can do it wait and see if the obstruction ruin moves on its own or if he will need surgery. If seizures can get under control he can be cleared for surgery if needed. Xrays are set for today at 1pm which will tell us information for next steps. We are praying for the best outcome and that the obstruction passes on its own or that he is a candidate for surgery. There is a possibility it won’t pass and it could tear the stomach lining which would be life threatening. Thinking of losing Hardy makes us physically ill. That is not an option. We will fight as hard as we can and do whatever it takes to help him make it out of this alive. We are begging and pleading for your help. Our vet bill is at $7,000. Please share, donate, and support any way you can! The additional amount in our projected goal will cover his future MRI to get more help with his seizures.
