My Story
My name is Ron, and 25 years ago, I arrived in the United States from the Bahamas with just a few dollars in my pocket and a heart full of determination. I chose Montgomery, Alabama as my home, and I quickly noticed something missing — there was no market near the downtown area.
I worked tirelessly, scraping together every resource I could, to open a small store. That little store became Knicker Knacker Market, a place that quickly grew in popularity with both locals and visitors. Many were drawn to the history of our area — the same streets where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spent much of his time.
Over the years, I pushed through challenge after challenge:
• Severe weather that damaged the area.
• A long drought that hurt business.
• The COVID-19 pandemic that nearly shut us down completely.
But through it all, I never gave up. Every kind word from a customer, every smile, every positive Google review reminded me why I kept fighting to keep the doors open.
Along the way, I met the woman of my dreams. She already had daughters, but I loved them as my own, and together, we built a life rooted in love, faith, and service to our community.
Unfortunately, as a Bahamian unfamiliar with U.S. tax laws, I unknowingly made mistakes that left me owing the IRS. I spent thousands of dollars trying to get help, only to be scammed by people who prey on small business owners like me. Now, the debt is crushing, and combined with daily store expenses, it’s threatening to take away everything I’ve worked for.

Why This Matters
Knicker Knacker isn’t just a store — it’s a part of Montgomery’s history and a safe, welcoming space for everyone. Locals stop by for fresh goods, tourists discover a taste of our community, and strangers become friends under our roof.
If this market closes, it’s not just my dream that ends — the community loses a place that has been here for decades, serving with heart and pride.

How You Can Help
I need to raise $35,000 urgently to:
• Pay off the IRS debt that is threatening to shut us down.
• Cover essential store expenses to keep the market running.
• Preserve a vital part of downtown Montgomery’s community.
Any amount you give will make a difference. Even $10 or $20 brings me one step closer to saving the store. If you can’t donate, sharing this page with friends, family, and on social media means the world to me.

From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for helping me keep Knicker Knacker Market alive.
God bless you,
