Hard times for Ronda and Babs

Hi, my name is Bree and I’m looking for help in order to keep me, Ronda and our kitties (Babs & Baby) safe and housed after falling into hard times due to health problems.

 

My mother, Ronda, came to live with me shortly before the covid pandemic hit. She suffers from a range of health issues including early onset dementia, which requires me to care for her 24 hours a day. I willingly said goodbye to a career and lifestyle that I was happy with in order to be there for her, but this has come at a considerable financial and emotional cost. Although I am her paid care giver, I make roughly half of what I was before welcoming her into my life in this way.

 

Emotionally it’s been a wild ride doing direct care for someone that is at high risk concerning covid. Many people can probably relate to how this pandemic has complicated everyday life. The simple act of just going to the grocery store was panic inducing just 12 months ago. This has taken a toll on both me and Ronda, as our social lives haven’t allowed us to create the support system that we desperately need.

 

The acute need we have right now is for help paying rent. I received an eviction notice from our landlord on Friday for being 5 days late on rent. Making rent for May and June will be very hard. The problem for caregivers is that when she is in the hospital - getting the care she needs to live - I don’t have an income. In addition, the day she got home from the first hospital stay for a stroke, our darling kitty Babs got sick. So in addition to not having income we have the added cost of Bab’s ongoing care for a digestive disease - the same disease my kitty of 15 years, Sushi Bean, died from one year ago.

 

All of the kindness that is raised will go to pay rent first; vet bills second; then much needed car repairs and medical equipment that we need in our home to help mom stay safe.

 

We truly appreciate any and all support you are able to help with. This isn’t the first bump in the road we have faced, and it probably won’t be the last… it’s just a bump I’m not able to financially handle alone.
