Harare SPCA
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Emma.
I’m raising funds for the SPCA in Zimbabwe. The SPCA is a non-profit organisation that acts as the Municipal Animal Pound but receives no government funding whatsoever.
The Society is struggling to keep its doors open due to the ever- increasing financial burdens it is facing. The number of stray ,abandoned, and surrendered animals is rising alarmingly. Statistics show the staggering numbers of domestic pets in need of shelter. In 2023 over 1000 stray dogs and close to 800 cats were handed into the Harare Spca as strays and close on 1500 pets surrendered into their care. All animals need to be vaccinated, fed, and sterilized.
The heavy financial burden of the day to day running costs is exacerbated by the need to also buy fuel to keep generators running in order to provide electricity for fridges, freezers, theatre for daily surgeries, x- ray machines, and to pump underground water as there is rarely municipal water available. The small fleet of vehicles needs repairs and maintenance. The list of essential requirements goes on.
The Spca is managed by a small team of passionate volunteers and staff.
Donor fatigue has made things even more difficult for society. Fundraising is ongoing but not enough is raised to meet the running costs incurred.
So, I am appealing for donations to assist the Spca in Zimbabwe. The funds will be used to ensure the veterinary hospital and kennels can continue to offer care and succour to the animals in need.
No animal is ever turned away from the Spcas.
Your donation can go a long way ❤️
