I"m reaching out to Melanie's family and friends to share that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has already begun chemotherapy treatments. She has wanted to pick up the phone and tell everyone herself, but it's simply been too emotional for her to do so right now. She recently had her first chemo treatment, which has made everything more real and challenging.

When I spoke with her parents, they reminded me that Melanie has always been the girl who would give her jacket off her back when it was raining or her lunch if someone didn't have one. And still to this day, that is exactly who she is-selfless, compassionate, and always putting others first. I see her constant devotion to her family, her friends, and anyone who needs help.

Right now, her entire focus is on her health and her son, Kingston-making sure he feels safe and understands what's happening. She even brought him to her doctor so he could ask questions and feel included in the process. That's the kind of mama she is.

Melanie has been out of work due to recent industry changes, and we were in the middle of starting a new business that has now been put on hold because of her diagnosis and treatment. On top of everything, she is facing significant medical expenses as she continues chemo, which has added an overwhelming amount of stress.
