Life saving spinal surgery
UPDATE- Alfie’s surgery WAS successful but the following day he had a huge relapse. The right side of his spine haemorrhaged and was compressing in to the left. Because he had already had surgery on the left side he would require pins and plates to stabilise the spine before they could attempt another surgery. This time the surgery would be 7 hours long as oppose to 2with a lot higher risks with the total cost upping from 9K-13k. This is the final chance for Alfie.
Alfie has had an accident while chasing a ball causing a spinal injury. After a couple of hours, some initial consultations, medications and a few hundred pounds he deteriorated very quickly leaving me only two options: leave him suffering but on strong pain killers and hope a slight movement doesn’t paralyse him where he would need euthanising or take him for spinal surgery. After another couple of consultations I was told it was highly unlikely Alfie would recover by himself meaning he needs surgery within days.
All in all this is going to cost between £9000-£10,000 which includes: first and second vet visits, injections, tablets, overnights stays, drips, weekend/ emergency fees, MRI scans, specialist treatment and the surgery. His insurance won’t even cover a fraction of the cost. I am determined to cover the whole costs if needed but after messages from family and friends to offer help I thought it would be easier to set as a link. I can’t thank everyone enough for your support for my baby
