My name is Ashley McKenzie, and I am one of Art Mackie’s nieces.

Saturday May 21, 2022, was a devastating day for Happy Trails Stables and Art Mackie. The winds destroyed the main barn and equipment sheds, toppled trees, tore tin from the roofs and cut off electricity to the farmhouse and buildings. Luckily, no animals were lost, and no one sustained any injuries.

Happy Trails provides programs for children, youth and adults with special needs. As a result of this disaster, Art will not be able to offer these critical educational services to his clients, which are essential for his livelihood. With weeks and months of clean-up work ahead to get the farm back to basic functionality, Art needs our help and support. Art would be the first person to offer support, machinery or lend a hand when anyone is in need, and now he needs us. He is a humble man, and he can’t do this alone. This farm has been in the Mackie family for decades and has benefitted many people over the years. Please consider donating any amount to Happy Trails Stables and Art Mackie, as the costs associated with damages are currently unknown.
