Happy Trails Flemish Giant Rabbitry Help
Hi Everyone! If you are part of the Happy Trails Family or have a Flemish Giant as part of your family, then you know how special they are!
Our friend and rabbit family member/breeder, Louis Moses, has had a devastating few months and as part of his family - WE NEED TO HELP!
——His message this morning—
It is with heavy heart that I write this email. As many of you know over the past 1-2 months we have been experiencing various challenges with many losses. I was finally able to locate a Veterinarian that provided comprehensive treatment for my rabbits.
Earlier in the week a 6 week old Kit died and had blood extruding from it's nose. This was greatly alarming since this is one of the symptoms of RHD, Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease. On 5/28/21 we made contact with the County Health Department and sent a carcass to the University for a full necropsy. We expect results next week. We also had 23 rabbits vaccinated against this killer disease. We plan to vaccinate the remaining rabbits next week. If tests results prove positive I hope it's not too late since vaccination begins to offer protection after 14 days.
Emotionally, I haven't been at such a point ever in my life. Losing such wonderful rabbits and years of work and progress is so devastating. It has cost me over $15k in the last 2 months trying to save my babies. Emotionally and financially I am spent but I must fight on. I still envision a 25-30 pound Flemish Giant!
