Hello Everyone! Thank you for stopping by. I want to introduce to you the Winquist Family! From the left: Oldest daughter B (25), oldest son, C (19), Dad Craig and Mom Lou, and the twins, son G and daughter T (16 ). They’re an amazing family!
Both boys are blind and severely autistic, with additional medical concerns. Life for this family has been challenging at times. But these past ten months have been particularly daunting. You see, Lou was diagnosed with an aggressive form of colon cancer in August 2021. After months of chemotherapy, and a few weeks of remission, the cancer has returned and has spread throughout her body. Please see the personal message from Lou with an update, below!
Having special needs children can be expensive. Only a small portion of the boys’ therapies, medications, and doctor's appointments are covered by insurance. These past few months have brought on the additional expense of Lou’s cancer surgery, chemotherapy, medications, and doctor's appointments. Although Craig continues to work full time, Lou is unable to work any longer. They are making ends meet – they are responsible adults who have cut out all unnecessary expenditures in order to make sure all of their children are taken care of.
In all that this family is facing, “Supermom” Lou has a wish! She wants to make happy memories with her children while she still can. She wants the family to take a long weekend camping in the woods in a cabin; or go to a water park or beach (something the boys love to do). She wants the family to laugh together and enjoy each other. She wants something wonderful for her children to hold on to and remember for the rest of their lives.
This is why I’ve started this Go Fund Me Account. The Winquist family has no money left to make Lou’s wish come true. Your donation, no matter how big, will help and hopefully bring a happier moment in time to this family.
I will update this account as the days go on. I will post pictures of wish(es) coming true and the joy you’ve brought to this wonderful family. If you can’t donate, please feel free to share this site.
Please know that if for some reason Lou is unable to fulfill her wish, any money raised will be used to pay for Lou’s medical expenses.
Thank you so much!
Beth
UPDATE: A Personal Message From Lou
Hi Everyone!
I am so blown away by the support we have received, and so deeply thankful.
We have been given an option of a few rounds of a highly powerful form of chemo to try to extend my time and shrink the biggest tumors – and I have to try this for my family and loved ones.
This starts next week, and your prayers and wishes for our family are massively appreciated as we navigate this challenging time.
Thank you all again so very much.
Lou
More About Lou ….
Lou is an incredibly devoted wife, mother, and friend. Her husband, Craig, works full time for a major IT company. Until recently, Lou also worked part time with other special needs children. Around her work schedule, she homeschooled the boys, teaching them braille and other methods of communication, and various life skills to improve their independence. Lou always puts all of her children first, sacrificing her own needs to make sure her children are taken care of. With a twinkle in her eye, she has an amazing sense of humor (she can make even the most grumpy personality laugh)! She is worldly and intelligent, and loves life and its’ mysteries. She is a bright light in any room, and an authentic friend who is very loving, giving, gentle, and kind. She is a true gift and a joy to all of those she meets, and we are all better for having her in our lives.
