Happiness For Homeless Service Trip

I'm Shelby Reposa, a student from an alternative schooling system called Big Picture, and I'm creating my Service Thesis Project around the issue of homelessness in youth and adults, with a focus on families in particular. I am calling my project Happiness For Homeless. The money I raise will be put to transporting clothing, book, and toy donations to Boston, MA and Burlington, VT. There, I will be holding events in which I will give away the items to the homeless, along with interviewing them about their lives in the homeless community. The money will also be put towards buying gift bags to present the care packages to the homeless (the events will take place during the holiday season) as well as buying gifts for the homeless families with any remaining money. I deeply appreciate everyone willing to help me with my visions and efforts of helping others in a variety of communities.

Olivia Lurie, another Big Picture student who will also be attending this service trip, is doing amazing work for the Boston and Burlington communities as well. We will both be visiting different homeless and low income shelters, safe spaces, and so on, to gain knowledge about the issues at hand. I will be documenting the information from these visits into a mini research paper about homelessness, and she will be using the information to create a documentary about substance abuse in homeless communities. More than this, while in Boston and Burlington, she has so graciously volunteered to film parts of my events, allowing me to display my final products.
