Happy Kidneys for Kinder Future

My name is Erik Toren. I have been a diabetic for almost 26 years. Throughtout that time, I have had my highs and lows in my health due to my condition. Nevertheless, I have also many life accomplishments. Among those has been my marriage to the love of my life, Katy, and our five-year old daughter, Ixchel. As time has passed, diabetes has taken its toll on my body and health. Recently I was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and renal failure. CKD is not curable. There are only two options: dialysis and kidney transplant. Though dialysis is an artificial fix to a major health problem, it's limiting not only to one's lifestyle, but also on one's life span. Kidney transplant is considered a best option, but one that requires not only a donor, but a good amount of money to cover the costs of operation and medicine.

The funding that I am seeking is to off-set the costs of operation and medicine. My goal is to raise the fund within a year. This funding not only will help me healthwise by giving me the opportunity to lead a healthier lifestyle and longer life span, but more importantly to me it will give me the hope to see my daughter grow, be there for her, be part of her life accomplishments, and help her as in her life path.
