On Monday, November 1, 2021, Hao Huang sadly passed away during a hiking accident while climbing Mt Whitney in Sequoia National Park. Hao was a great friend to many and an esteemed colleague who will be greatly missed by all those who loved and cared for him.
Born in 1987 and raised in Sichuan, China, Hao earned his Masters Degree in Computer Engineering from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2012. He was a talented, accomplished and hard-working technology thought leader, who set the standard for excellence on every team and project to which he contributed. In his free time he enjoyed traveling, hiking, running, cycling and entertaining friends with his delectable cooking and grilling skills. Hao dabbled in investing and spent his free time staying current with industry happenings through a voracious appetite for reading and discussions about technology with friends and colleagues. He was always open to share his knowledge and time with others, and his diligent efforts as a professional were recognized through workplace awards and a recent promotion to Engineering Management at Walmart Global Tech.
Hao left an indelible imprint on all with whom he came into contact - his kindness, intelligence, dogged determination to do things RIGHT, fearlessness and passion to live life to the fullest - was an inspiration to many.
Hao leaves behind his dear parents, Hua Huang and Fangling Li, his girlfriend Kylie, best friend Sean, and countless friends and loved ones who will miss his smile, his sweet nature and his willingness to always look for ways to help others become their better selves, whether at home, work or play. He will remain in our hearts forever.
In celebration of a life well-lived, we have created this Hao Huang Memorial Fund GoFundMe page to assist with the myriad of expenses related to his parent's travel to the USA from China and back, their handling of his estate and assets, funeral home expenses here in the US, and transport of Hao back to China where he will be laid to rest. As an only child, this is a tremendous and sorrowful loss to his parents. In addition, this will be their first time traveling outside of China. I'm sure Hao was looking forward to his mom and dad visiting him in NJ - to have had the privilege of sightseeing with them and having them meet his loved ones here in the US. Whatever support we can provide, both emotionally and financially, will certainly be a great benefit to them. We appreciate donations of any amount and are grateful for your kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness during this time. We also have a Kudoboard for you to add pictures and comments about the Hao that you knew and loved. It can be accessed here . Thank you.
