Dear Friends,
As you are aware, for the past 30 years, I have freely shared my time, skills, resources, finances, and experience to create and build communities and opportunities for students, teachers, writers, thespians, neighbors, friends, townspeople, and church folks to be appreciated and encouraged to grow and thrive without ever asking for or desiring anything in return.
Today, I am asking that people help me to aid my brother, Han-Tuni. COVID hit his business hard, and he has been struggling financially for the past couple of years because the business has not recovered, and he cannot sell it while it's doing so poorly. He had been weathering this the best he can, though, until his recent diagnosis of stomach cancer.
While no cancer is good, stomach cancer tends to be especially bad. The good news is that his has been caught with a 65% survival rate. The bad news is that insurance will only cover a portion of his costs. He had surgery this past week to remove as much as they could of the cancer cells plus the surrounding area in his stomach. In a few weeks, he'll learn what the treatment going forward will be.
For the surgery, the hospital would not even schedule his surgery until he had paid half of his portion of the costs, and then he had to pay the second half before the surgery. Tim and I had to help with these costs. For the possible treatments, Han-Tuni will not be able to cover what they might be, so a friend suggested I set up a Go Fund Me.
If any folks are interested in donating, I thank you in advance for your generosity and kind support. Please know that I appreciate everyone, regardless of whether or not you donate.
Thank you for being a part of my community.
