In June of 2021 I took Hanson to his vet because he was noticeably limping and didn’t want to put much pressure on his right foot. The after talking to his vet and after some X-Rays were taken, they came back saying that he showed signs of hip dysplasia at 5 months old. We were recommended a specialist and we went there in August of this year. The specialist recommended a total hip replacement surgery so Hanson can live a pain free life. This is a very expensive surgery around $5,000 that unfortunately our pet insurance won’t cover being that he is so young and we’ve had our insurance for less than a year. We scheduled the surgery in November of this year so he does not get any worse. Recovery time is around three months so by the time it is spring we will be able to start fresh with a brand new hip. Until then, he is on painkillers and restricted activity until he is able to go in for his surgery which is difficult being that he is such a high energy dog who loves to meet new friends. I am asking for donations to help offset the cost of his total hip replacement surgery. Hanson is so young and has so much life and potential ahead of him, so investing in his future is something that I feel is necessary.

My goal for Hanson is to be able to get his hip replacement completed and get out into the community as a therapy dog to help show that German Shepherds are more than their misunderstood stereotype of being “aggressive” and “ “scary” guard dogs.We appreciate you taking the time to read this post and even consider donating to his cause.
