Hansen Family Adoption Fund

Due to infertility the Hansen’s were unable to have a child of their own and they started pursuing a domestic infant adoption. They created a profile and continue to be a waiting family on Adoption Minnesota’s website. https://adoptionmn.com/families/glenn-dana/

Due to the longevity of their wait (seven years) with Adoption Minnesota, and feeling discouraged, they turned to alternate agencies and networks to adopt and hired an adoption counselor in WI to work with. This led them to a private attorney in Florida.

This past July they were matched with a birth mom and paid legal fees and supported the birth mom with health care and living expenses. They were overjoyed with the chance to be parents and have their dream finally come true. Unfortunately, their dream was shattered as three weeks prior to baby’s birth, the birth mom changed her mind and decided to parent. The Hansen’s lost a substantial amount of money that was non-refundable.

They are running out of time due to age limits but are not giving up on their dream and keeping continued faith by teaming up with a new agency, Heart of Adoptions in Florida, which accepts older couples and has a 95% success rate with an average match time of 11 months. They have been accepted into the agency and are working on the profile process. The average cost of an adoption is $40,000 and they will need to rebuild their savings after taking the financial hit from the failed adoption. The other reason they chose this agency as they reimburse some of the fees if the adoption fails during the process and they move couples to the top of the list if this happens.
