Hans Ottsen Music Scholarship Fund
Spende geschützt
We lost Hans, our dear son, brother, uncle and friend, on Saturday, April 30th, 2022. He was 45 and his death was unexpected. We miss him terribly.
Over the last decade, Hans established himself as one of the driving forces in bringing forth a renaissance of jazz in Ventura. He did that with the excellence of his playing, his passion for his students and his dedication to the budding jazz club in town, the Squashed Grapes. This club has now graduated to a new facility presenting an ever more exciting lineup of jazz, where Hans was a regular performer. He hosted the weekly jam providing players, beginning and accomplished, the opportunity to perform with a professional house band. He also delighted in bringing in top touring musicians to perform with local players at our family home, events he branded as Jazz on the Lane. The delight was shared by the players and local audiences alike.
To honor Hans and his legacy, we would like to start the Hans Ottsen Music Scholarship Fund, which will offer local musicians a $1000 scholarship to go towards educational expenses. Please, in lieu of flowers, please donate to this fund. We intend to offer this scholarship every year for as long as we are able. The more money we receive, the more scholarships we can distribute each year!
Thank you for helping us honor Hans and his incredible talent in this way.
