Hannah’s New Leukemia Journey

We want to take some time to share with you about Hannah... Our family received some life altering news and needs your support.  We are working with the hospital social workers and doctors to make sure Hannah’s needs are met, but our family lives about 3 1/2 hours away...

First we’d like to ask for your prayers for Hannah and for all of us as her family for the perseverance, patience and extra unconditional love we are going to need from God to endure this journey.

May 15th 2018 we got a positive pregnancy test and with fear and joy , we knew you were coming.. we were told pills and bed rest would be our best outcome. It wasn't fun or easy but your sister and I had so much fun talking to you. Then we finally seen my belly move and my heart jumped with joy. You decide you needed more room to move around so we had more fluid than necessary which meant full bed rest for mom.. those puffy cheeks came with risks and a C-section. On Jan 18, 2019 daddy and I held you in our arms bright and early and fell in love for a second time..

I love your grumpy face with the biggest heart.. pooping isn't fun or easy for you, the doctor keeps saying it's because of this stage, then this stage but we worked through it.. now we're teething for three weeks, we're getting 2 new ones each week, you've been miss fussy pants..

Is bloating this much normal? Let's try some of my grandma's remedies...it's been a week, This is NOT normal and nothing has worked. It's Friday, March 6, 2020 and your Primary isn't available, we live at the border, so let's go down to Mexico, I can't wait until Monday to schedule an appointment. Pediatrician from Mexico doesn't like what he feels, sent for x-rays and an ultrasound, we get it all done, we wait for results. Back to the pediatrician with those, "let's check 1 more thing to be sure" sends for lab work and says he’ll wait for the results until 8pm. Getting your Blood drawn was not easy for you. Tech says she'll rush to have them done by 8. Mom goes to wait at the pediatrician, while you and dad wait for lab results.. 8:15 dad and you finally make it to the doctors office. 2 minutes later he says this looks like leukemia take her to the Emergency room, this should not wait until tomorrow. My heart sinks and I cried but tried to keep it together, "I need an official diagnosis" I'm saying to my self.. longest 30 minute drive ever. Straight to an ER room we go, doctor says to retake blood work to be sure, she'll start the transfer paperwork now.

Airplane ride to Phoenix and the ambulance is waiting. More blood work, mommy has no idea what time it is she just wants to hold you..

It’s leukemia the oncologist says and I'm not so sure what came after that for a few minutes.. more test, OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS is B cell A.L.L leukemia. Today you’re 13 months old, you’re in surgery and we have 2 and a half years of treatment, hair loss, nausea and vomiting to go... I love you and I'm not going anywhere my Hannah.  You have a great family support system and great friends and together we’re gonna send you strength for your fight, it’s OUR FIGHT, BECAUSE WE’RE FAMILY, AND FAMILY STAYS TOGETHER.
