Dear family and friends,
While visiting family in Brazil for the holidays, Sam and Jen rushed to the hospital as things did not feel right with the pregnancy. After several scans, doctors confirmed that they could not find the baby’s heartbeat. Sam and Jen made quick arrangements to travel back to Australia, so they could be in a familiar environment. Once home, Jen delivered their stillborn baby on January 8th at 3:42am at just 21 weeks. They named her Hannah, which means “gracious,” “merciful,” and “He that gives.”
Jen and Sam appreciate all your love and prayers during the past few weeks and the many more to come. Many of you have asked what you can do to help Jen and Sam as they grieve the loss of their precious daughter. Thankfully, the healthcare system in Australia covered all of the medical costs. However, because they were unable to get a refund for their original flight, they had to pay an additional $6,000 to fly back to Australia. Jen’s mom also flew out from India to Australia to be with Sam and Jen for a few weeks. The best way we can all support them is to help with these unexpected travel costs, which we estimate to be $7,500.
Thank you again for your love and support towards our family. We love you all.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey & Pricy Mathew
