First, THANK YOU for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. Many of us get asked to donate money or sponsor an event on a regular basis, so I appreciate you considering this a cause worthy of investigation.
Second, let me tell you a little about myself and what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm Hannah Lansdon, member of Rock Mountain Lakes Baptist Church in McCalla, Alabama. Since 2010, RMLBC has been ministering to the children of Arequipa, Peru.
The Mission
Our mission's goal is to support orphans and poor children and those who take care of them. We work with a sister church in Arequipa to visit children in several orphanages, schools, and impoverished neighborhoods.
In carrying out the mission, we are able to present the gospel of Jesus Christ, meet some of the physical needs of the children, and financially support those who care for the children every day.
My Story
Since 2012 I have felt called to participate in this ministry, but I've always come up with an excuse NOT to go (work, finances, children, etc.). Instead, I have financially supported RMLBC in sending others to Arequipa.
However, last Summer when our team reported on their week in Peru I couldn't tell God "no" any longer. In tears, I told Him that if this was something He wanted me to do, that I was willing. No more excuses.
The Goal
Now that I've committed, it's time to put in the pre-work and raise funds to cover the cost of airfare other expenses associated with the trip. Plus, a portion will go directly to the organizations that care for the children. RMLBC also (graciously) provides a considerable sum to support the orphanages.
I need to raise my part ($1,000) by April 1 in order to purchase airfare.
The 2016 trip is scheduled for July 14-22.
Your Part
Please pray for our team as we all must work to raise the needed funds to make the trip possible. Pray for the funding and the ability to arrive in Peru safely. Pray for the children and their caretakers that they will be receptive to us and God's voice.
If you can donate to this mission, please consider doing so. Anything will help, whether it's $5 or $500. All funds will be used to make this trip possible and to spread the gospel to the children of Arequipa, Peru.
