Dear friends and family,
As many of you know in 2017 I had a brain tumor removed that was roughly the size of an orange. By God’s grace I survived the surgery and was told the tumor was gone. Three years have passed but in my recent scans it showed that the tumor has grown back. Though it is currently only about half of the size of the original tumor, it is now growing in a very dangerous area. The tumor is growing into the central vein of my brain. The central vein helps circulate the blood throughout your body and if this tumor continues to grow it will clog that vein and I will have strokes and die. Surgery is not an option because the tumor is attached to the vein and trying to remove it would result in the vein tearing and I would bleed to death. So the only option left is radiation. We’ve gone to several doctors and recently visited a neurosurgeon at Shands who specializes in my type of brain tumor. She wants to begin with radio surgery (similar to radiation). It’s a one time treatment that should stop, or severely slow, the tumor from growing. The doctor told me my tumor is very likely a type 2 Meningioma, which means this will not stop it from growing, but keep it at bay for a few years. Though radiation may cause cancer in later years, the doctors say if I don’t do these treatments I will die. So we take that risk hoping and praying that it doesn’t cause cancer. And if it does we pray that God’s name will still be praised and we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
We begin the radio surgery on April 8th. Although we have insurance, the treatments, hospital stays, scans, follow-ups, specialists, co-pays and further treatments will add up fast. Many friends have suggested we begin a Go Fund Me account for anyone who feels led to support us financially. We are asking most importantly for your prayers. Please pray this treatment works! I’m trusting the Lord in this season of unknowns, knowing He fashioned these days for me (Psalms 139:16). I’m so glad God led us to these doctors and I’m praying that He would be glorified through it all. I have been overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve already received; thank you for your prayers!
