Hannah & Xavier's Medical Struggle
Donation protected
As some of you may know, a little over a year ago Hannah sustained a head injury that resulted in a concussion. For her and her patients' safety, she could not return to work as a PTA until she was cleared; which took a while. Then all seemed fine and she was able to go back to work. In February of last year, while at work, Hannah had 5 seizures. They called an ambulance and took her to the ER where she was discharged after 5 hours for “fainting spells”. Two days later, she had 2 more seizures. Xavier called 911 and Hannah was taken to the hospital again, where she had at least 11 more seizures; it was so frequent they stopped counting them, although on one of the days they counted 75! Tons of tests were run, meds were given, and Hannah was sent home with many doctors' appointments on the calendar. But now, she was away from work again. Hannah was eventually able to go back to work and soon she discovered she was expecting little Natalie. However, things took a turn again. About 20 weeks into the pregnancy, Hannah’s doctors had some concerns about her heart and Hannah started passing out at work. She went back to the ER and was diagnosed with a UTI and was told to follow up with a cardiologist. A week later, while at her OBGYN’s office, she had another episode. Hannah’s third trip to the ER via ambulance came next. She did not have a pulmonary embolism, which was great, but the doctors were still concerned for Hannah’s heart and Natalie’s safety. Hannah followed up with her OBGYN and cardiologist who recommended desk work for the rest of Hannah’s pregnancy. She was grateful to still be able to work but she was heartbroken that it wasn’t as a PTA. Things seemed to be going fine for a little while until they weren’t again. On Jan 29, at 32 weeks pregnant, Hannah woke up feeling a little off. She went to work that day and the next, but she was sent home after throwing up and having contractions. She started getting sick every 20 minutes and couldn’t keep food or water down. The next morning, she went back to the ER where she was given fluids and anti-nausea meds and sent home but things didn’t get better. On Sunday, Feb 5, worried about dehydration and Natalie, her doctors sent her back to the ER where she was admitted almost immediately. She had lost 12 pounds and was severely dehydrated. Fluids were pushed and bloodwork was drawn. When the bloodwork came back it showed liver and kidney damage. Her blood pressure was high and she was being monitored for preeclampsia. Other doctors were consulted and more tests were run. Over the last few days, she has still been sick with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, her liver and kidney levels have still not returned to normal, she is still having seizures, and she has gone into labor twice. There are still no answers and it is unclear when Hannah will be released. Xavier is going to work every day, worrying about Hannah and Natalie. We are setting up this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden that medical bills have placed on Hannah and Xavier. We want to make sure Hannah and Xavier can pay their mounting medical bills while being able to pay rent and have food on the table.
