I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected for the African Leadership Academy’s Global Summer Programme in Johannesburg South Africa, one of the continent’s most dynamic leadership experiences for young changemakers.
The Global Scholars Program (GSP) brings together young people from across the world each summer in Johannesburg for an immersive experience in leadership, social entrepreneurship, and cross‑cultural learning. Open to students aged 13–19, the programme blends hands‑on work with South African entrepreneurs, design‑thinking workshops, and real-world problem‑solving.
This Gives Me The Opportunity to:
• Learn human‑centred design thinking
• Tackle real‑world social challenges
• Collaborate with South African ventures and community leaders
• Develop the practical skills needed to build impactful, sustainable initiatives
As a first year undergraduate passionate about research, entrepreneurship, and social impact, this programme is the perfect environment to grow, experiment, and learn directly from innovators who are shaping their communities.
Why This Matters to Me
I’m currently a scholar with The Amos Bursary, an organisation dedicated to advancing social mobility for high‑achieving young people of African and Caribbean heritage. Their mission is to ensure that our success is expected, celebrated, and fully represented across education, industry, and leadership.
Through the Bursary, I’ve gained:
• A community that champions aspiration, growth, and opportunity
• Access to mentoring, personal development, and professional networks
• Support that has helped me thrive academically and build confidence in my potential
Their work is vital: Black students and graduates in the UK continue to face systemic barriers; from underrepresentation in elite universities to higher unemployment rates and limited access to leadership roles. The Amos Bursary is actively changing that narrative, and I’m proud to be part of this movement. This opportunity with ALA is a continuation of that journey: stepping into global leadership spaces, building skills that uplift communities, and becoming part of a network committed to long‑term social impact.
How You Can Support Me
To make this experience possible, I’m raising £800 to contribute towards my programme costs.
If you believe in empowering young leaders and investing in future changemakers, I would be deeply grateful for your support, be that through a donation or by sharing this page with others who care about education, equity, and global leadership.
Every contribution brings me one step closer to representing my community on an international stage and returning with the tools to create meaningful, sustainable impact.
Thank you for believing in my journey and investing in my growth.
