Hannah and friend’s are running for The Ben Kinsella Trust!

Hello everyone! My name is Hannah, a 21 year old victim of knife crime. At the end of April, myself, my sister Beth and three of my incredible friends, Chloe, Demi and Shannon will be running the Coventry Half Marathon to raise money for the Ben Kinsella Trust.

On Saturday the 21st of May 2022, at age 18, I went to work to do an extra shift at my part time job, working as a waitress at a pub. Within one hour of working, my boss stabbed me twice for no reason other than her own delusion.

I was stabbed once in my left hip, 17cm deep and once in my lower back, 8cm deep. I was extremely lucky to survive as my injuries could have been life threatening and as we were on our way to the hospital we were unsure on what the outcome would be. This took place 4 days before my birthday and in the middle of dance competitions.

In October 2022, I testified against my boss in court and she was found guilty of attempted murder, GBH with intent and possession of a weapon in a public place and is currently serving a 10 year prison sentence.

Unfortunately in this day and age, it is becoming more regular that we see knife crime occurring, with around 50,500 offences in the year ending March 2024, a 4.4% increase from the year prior. I read articles daily that hurt my heart knowing that there are hundreds of people and their families going through what I have been through and much worse. Raising awareness about knife crime can hopefully lead towards a reduction and in the end term putting a stop to it, which is why we will be raising money for the Ben Kinsella Trust.

The Ben Kinsella Trust is an amazing foundation that works with young people to educate them on the consequences of knife crime and the impact it can have on others. They have given me incredible support since I first got in contact with them and do some amazing work to help put an end to knife crime!
