Hello everyone, our daughter Hanna Rose Johnson was born on May 27, 2017(only year old now). Within hours of her delivery Hanna was rush down to NICU due to low blood sugar(she kept sleeping and not eating). Once she was there they told us she might just be a diabetic. After days of her been there they told us that wasn't it. We literally had no answer on what was going on with her. She wasn't alert like all newborns should be and couldn't feed. Me and my husband were just frustrated not knowing what was wrong with our daughter Hanna. After two weeks of diligent work by the neonatologists and nurses at Valley Prebyterian Hospital Center and countless additional tests, Hanna was diagnosed with Panhypopituitarism. An MRI revealed that, in her specific case, she was born without a pituitary gland.
The pituitary is a small gland attached to the base of the brain that is responsible for the production of pituitary hormones. These hormones help regulate kidney and adrenal function, the growth of muscle and bone, guide the onset of puberty and sexual maturity, regulate thyroid function, and much more.
Thanks to God that Hanna condition is treatable and she is responding well with her growth hormone injection and medication. However, this is a life-long disorder that will require daily hormone replacement medication (both oral and injection) and frequent visits to the endocrinologist.
For the past year of her life we have been in and out from Children Hospital Los Angeles due to infection and fevers. Since her body can't really fight infection she has to be hospitalized. Everytime we go into the hospital we are in there for about 10-12 days. She has been hospitalized within her year of life 7 time's. Due to all this trip to the hospital we have gotten bills that her insurance won't cover.
Funds raised through this GoFundMe will be applied directly to the medical expenses accumulated through the year of Hanna life. We have received three bills so far that insurance won't cover two of 5,000 and one of 1,000.
Hanna is the youngest of three children. Me and my husband have been by her side since day one. It's hard having to drive a hour from our house to the hospital Everytime she Ill and having to make sure our other children are in good hands while we're in the hospital with Hanna.
How you can help:
