Hanks Greenhouse Fund

Hanks homestead is a small family farm trying to get off the ground! In January of this year we built a small greenhouse out of recycled materials we found around our homestead (old hog panels, t-posts, and lumber) but once the legendary Kansas wind hit 70mph, it really took a toll on her. Our family is raising money in order to help meet the costs of building a larger, more reliable greenhouse that can stand the test of time (wind) and give us room to grow! A new greenhouse, built from a professional kit, would allow us to get a good headstart on the growing season and make it possible for us to support our big ideas for the 2019 season. We want to expand not only our own produce and flower fields (feed those bees), but also have the capacity to seed enough vegetable starts to sell to the public. These starts would be for whomever wants the benefit of homegrown food without all the hassle of growing and keeping fragile seedlings alive. Anyone who has ever had a garden knows how important strong plants are. We want to be able to provide healthy, robust starts that can endure the initial shock of transplanting and our delightful midwest summers. A larger, sturdier greenhouse would allow us to take orders on plant starts for people before planting season even begins, possibly even supplying local nurseries. In addition to providing the means for people to grow their own food, having a bigger greenhouse would extend our growing season beyond the regular summer months. This would help us achieve our goal of providing the community and our family with organic produce almost year round. We are a family of four with two small boys. Our dream is to be able to raise them on a working farm, teaching them the value of honest good work and how to grow nutritious food. We aspire to keep the newest generation interested in the earth and the farming process, but we need your help to do it. Your donation would help cover the costs of: 30x48 Commercial Greenhouse Kit($3,200) Lumber not included for completion($300) Hardware (doors, wood screws, etc.)($200) Shipping($400) This is the link to the website we will purchase the greenhouse from: http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies/prod1;ft_high_tunnels_cold_frames;pgpb01680r6c_PB01730R6C.html  Please help us feed you and your family healthy organic produce! Your donation, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated in this endeavor to help us expand our business.
