Haneen Nasser's evacuation from Gaza fundraiser

I’m Haneen Youssef Muhammad Nasser and my husband Diaa Al-Deen Wakid Al-Shai’r from Khan Younis, Gaza. I am a painter, my only source of income before the war was drawing, selling gifts and printing and most of my work was online.

Then all of a sudden, the war happened and we were ordered to evacuate. We left our homes with nothing but our clothes on us, we left everything behind and are currently sheltering in tents. The home that we haven’t been in for more than 2 years was bombed by Israeli air strikes, and with it all of my work, tools and livelihood were destroyed in the blink of an eye.

We’re currently suffering greatly in Rafah, we don’t have any food nor clean water, we have to wait 5 hours in line to use a toilet, we sleep on the ground inside our tents (rainy nights make it much more unpleasant). The humanitarian aid is not nearly enough and we don’t get any of it. Food prices skyrocketed, we don’t even have the money for it.

This is why we are running this fundraiser to allow myself and my husband to leave Gaza for Egypt through the Rafah border crossing. It costs around $10,000 per person to cross the border.
