Haneen Al-Yamani: Future Human Rights Academic
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Haneen. I am 30 years old, I live in Bethlehem, Palestine. I have a BA in Accounting and an MA in International Cooperation and Development from Bethlehem University. I currently work as an accountant in an NGO in a Palestinian refugee camp that works with children, young people and women. I am fundraising to attend a summer course on migration and human rights in Rome, Italy, in July this year.

I want to know more about human rights because I want other people around the world to know that Palestinians are human; that we have rights like anyone else. Many people around the world think that Palestinians don't know anything about human rights. So, I am dreaming of doing my PhD on human rights but I can't get this chance in Palestine because, first, we don't have a PhD on human rights here and second, it is financially too expensive to study outside of Palestine. The short course that I am fund raising for is on migration and human rights, delivered by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Centre at John Cabot University. I am interested in attending this course so that I can receive the information and skills required to write my PhD proposal. Even though human rights courses are not offered in Palestine, Inch'allah, by attending this course, I will be able to develop myself and still work towards my life's goal of continuing my academic studies.
The funds raised so far will go towards:
$US1,000 - Course registration fees
€ 250 - Accommodation at John Cabot University's Lungara Apartments
€60 - Italian visa application
Although we have raised the original goal of $AUS2000, we have extended the goal to $AUS3000 to cover the cost of the flight from Amman to Rome. Any additional funds will cover travel costs from Bethlehem to Amman, Jordan, (which requires a whole day to pass through checkpoints and border controls) and daily expenses, such as food and drinks.
Further details about the short course can be found here:

Thank you so much for supporting me and my dreams!
