Handyman business startup costs

Hey everybody! It's just me, your friendly neighborhood handyman. I've been doing side work for way too long and it's way past due to get licensed, bonded, and insured. I'm sick and tired of working for slumlords and greedy property management companies. I've already got a van, ladders, all the tools, and 25 years of experience. It's high time I start making something out of myself with the skills I already have. My little family missed the boat on buying a home in Seattle and we've been living hand to mouth ever since. I want that to change and I'm ready to make the jump into becoming a proper entrepreneur. I never ever thought I would use a service like gofundme, but life has become prohibitively expensive here in Seattle and I'm starting to worry about our future. There are extenuating circumstances as to why it's difficult for my family to move forward but I'm going to spare you the sob story. Please understand that I'm not desperate but I really want to start charging market rate for my services and have the peace of mind of having insurance. It looks like the start up fees run from between $5000 and $10,000. Once I'm up and running I can write off all my necessary tool/vehicle expenses on my taxes. Like a good pressure washer for example. As a Jack of all trades, and a very friendly one at that, I feel like I have a lot to offer the community in a more official and profitable capacity. Thank you for your time ✌️
