Handicap Van for Annette

Donation protected
Annette McCrumada is a beautiful soul with a big heart. She is a mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Ms. Annette is not only full of life but even more full of faith; she is a believer, a prayer warrior, an intercessor, an encourager, and a helper to anyone in need.

On November 14, 2008, she experienced a fall while walking downstairs at work; tragically, her neck and back were broken. During the early stages of her accident, it was literally touch and go as several of her doctors did not believe she would make it. We (her family) are happy to report that our lovely sister & aunt has beaten all the odds and is thriving today. However, as expected, with such a traumatic accident, she has not walked since that fatal day. Her diagnosis is spinal cord injury C5 Asia B Tetraplegic. This diagnosis is sometimes referred to as quadriplegia, meaning she cannot voluntarily move the upper and lower parts of the body.

After transitioning home from many months in hospitals (i.e., three trauma care hospitals) and a care facility, Annette was blessed to obtain a handicap-accessible van to help her receive medical care. She greatly depended on her van for doctor appointments, community outings, family events, and mall visits because she loves shopping. Her van allowed her to be an active part of her community and gave her access to the outside world versus being limited to viewing it on television (e.g., CNN & the nightly local news). It was also a financial lifesaver with emergency visits to the ER versus using ambulatory services, which aren't free.

Sadly on the late night of February 5, 2022, during a time of heavy snow and deep freeze, a neighbor was speeding and totaled her van. The van was rammed into the corner of her house. Thankfully, she was not in the vehicle.

Working with the insurance company and searching for a replacement vehicle has been an ordeal. Handicap-accessible vans are customized with a lift, special seating, etc., to accommodate wheelchairs. As you can imagine, these vehicles are costly and not easy to find. Due to the current supply chain issues, Annette and her family have been struggling to find a replacement van. The current funds she has for purchasing a replacement handicap-accessible van are insufficient.

Annette is humbly asking all family, friends, and the community to help her get a replacement handicap-accessible van. Any monetary donation to help buy a replacement van is greatly appreciated. A gift of a handicap-accessible van in excellent condition would be a huge blessing …it would be an absolute miracle for her.

Thank you in advance for your donation. Please help us get the work out by sharing Annette’s GoFundMe page on your social networks. God bless you & keep looking up!
