Esprimo began life as a development project for singers still in education — a place where young musicians could work at a professional level, develop ensemble skills together, and discover what they were capable of in a supportive but challenging environment.

Over time, Esprimo’s membership has grown older and more established. We are now teachers, performers, conductors, and arts professionals — as well as many other roles - but we haven’t forgotten how transformative those early opportunities were. They shaped our musicianship, our confidence, and our sense of belonging in the musical world.

That shared experience is why we are now passionate about re-opening those doors.

This year, that commitment comes to life through a performance of Handel’s Messiah. Working on a large-scale work of this depth and stature is a rare opportunity for young singers: it demands musical discipline, emotional engagement, and collaboration at a high level. By rehearsing and performing Messiah alongside experienced adult professional musicians, our young participants gain first-hand insight into what it means to take part in serious music-making — not as observers, but as valued contributors. Your support will help make this experience possible, covering rehearsal costs, professional support, and performance expenses, and ensuring that financial circumstance is not a barrier to taking part.

This project brings together young singers aged 11–18 with Esprimo’s adult musicians in a shared artistic experience: learning, rehearsing, and performing side by side. It is about raising musical standards, yes — but just as importantly, it is about mentorship, aspiration, and showing young people what is possible when talent is nurtured seriously and kindly.
