Hand in Hand for Cebu - Relief for Typhoon Kalmaegi Victims

$2,640 raised of $2K AUD

Hi, my name is Vienna. I am currently in Brisbane, Australia, but I grew up in Liloan, Cebu, where I lived for 25 years. I’m starting this fundraiser to help my hometown and nearby communities in any way I can.
The funds raised will be used to provide essential supplies such as food, drinking water, diapers, and sanitary items to affected families. Areas in the northern part of Cebu, including Consolacion, Liloan, Compostela, and Danao - were heavily affected by the recent flooding. If this fundraiser exceeds its goal, additional help will be extended to other communities such as Mandaue City, Cebu City, and Talisay City.
To give you an idea of how far your support can go: 1 AUD (≈ 37 PHP) can already buy a kilo of rice, enough to feed an average household of five. Truly, a little can go a long way.
During the early hours of Tuesday, 4 November, Cebu was under Signal No. 4, with strong winds and torrential rain causing widespread destruction. Many families lost their homes as floodwaters rose rapidly, some reaching rooftop levels, others completely swept away. Thousands of people are left with nothing - no belongings, no clean water, and, for some, the heartbreaking loss of loved ones.
Although I am far from home, every cent raised will be sent directly to a trusted friend and colleague on the ground, who are organizing a relief operation to purchase and distribute essential goods to those who need them most. Once the funds are released, I will be posting updates, photos, and progress of the relief drive so you can see exactly where your donations are going.
For example, in Colorado Homes, Liloan, just 7 km from where I grew up, floodwaters reached the rooftops. I’m incredibly grateful that my family is safe, but heartbroken for my fellow Lilo-anons — friends and classmates - who have lost their belongings, homes they worked so hard for, and are now starting over from zero.
If you’d like to know more about what’s happening, please feel free to look up the latest news or browse through the photos I’ve included.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Even the smallest contribution makes a meaningful difference.
