Hand in Hand for @benjlramos
Benj Ramos aka @benjlramos is a brother, an affectionate son and grandson, a loyal friend, a photography buff, a travel/hiking/adventure buddy, a staunch advocate for the preservation and respect of the environment, a freespirit, and so much more to many of us. We embark on a drive to offer whatever contribution we can to his family, as his medical bills pile up, and we appeal for your support.
Early Sunday he was driving a motorcyle in Siargao and collided with a car.
At the clinic, he had seizures, and had to be airlifted to Davao Doctors Hospital as efforts to find ways to airlift to Manila proved futile.
His BP upon arrival in Davao was a mere 40, and platelet count very low. His brain CT Scan showed contusions, but were deemed non-surgical in nature.
Abdominal ultrasound and subsequent CT Scan however, showed lacerations on 3 parts of his liver, with 800cc of blood behind it. Kidney was lacerated as well.
Despite constant infusion of up to 3 liters at a time, in an effort to manage his case conservatively, he continues to bleed internally. Platelet count is slowly rising, but still way below normal.
He was recently awake and started to talk to family. However, as of a few hours ago, he complained of a headache, threw up, and was screaming from severe pain. Despite painkillers, he motioned in response that the pain was a 9 out of 10. Knowing Benj as being strong and with a high tolerance for pain, for most of us, this would probably feel way more than his 9. He tightly gripped his brother’s hand as he tried hard to endure this while trying to just sleep it off.
As he remains at the ICU, the surgery that we thought was already off the table, is now suddenly back as a possibility.
God willing, even when he is moved out of ICU, he is expected to stay at the hospital for 3-4 weeks more for close monitoring.
If he is operated on, it will be much longer.
Benj just resigned from a previous job around a month ago, and was very excited to start in a new industry this June 20.
Given those circumstances, he had no medical insurance in place in during that transition period.
Hoping for your open hearts and be hand in hand with us in our efforts to give a meaningful contribution to the mounting expenses of his family. For the love of @benjlramos who had so much zest for life always said “never live vicariously”, we humbly ask for whatever amount you could wholeheartedly share. For bigger donations 50k onwards you may pm us so it can go straight to an account that they can use immediately.
We likewise request that you continue to pray for Benj and his miraculous speedy recovery!
Thank You! May God Bless You!
