Hana's Back Surgery: A Race Against Time

Spende geschützt
Hana Needs Back Surgery Now to Prevent Immobility.

In May of 2024, our dear friend Hana Carter was driving home from work when her car was struck by another vehicle.

The impact caused damage to her back that seems to have been compounded by misdiagnosed treatments.

Initially, she was treated by a chiropractor who began adjustments without first authorizing X-rays, despite her requests and complaints of ongoing pain. He told her nothing was broken and began adjusting her back, even releasing her to return to work. After two days, the pain was too much to handle and she couldn't work.

After weeks without improvement, she sought treatment from a different chiropractor who ordered X-rays and an MRI, and a stop to the physical therapy that she had been prescribed. At that point, it was revealed that she had two herniated and damaged discs in her neck and one in her lower back.

Still fighting pain and impaired mobility, she consulted with two
neurologists locally and had an evaluation from the Spine Connection Clinic in Germany, a well-regarded back specialty clinic that treats patients from around the world.

After much research and consideration, the quickest and best solution is to send Hana for treatment in Germany. With a 90-to-95% success rate, the results there are encouraging--and more affordable. Additionally, her family in the Czech Republic will be able to support her post-operative recovery while Ben continues to work here.

While the insurance companies battle over who is financially responsible, Hana needs immediate spine surgery now to avoid ending up in a wheelchair.

Along with the fear of permanent impaired mobility, she and her husband, Ben, a long-time resident of Sandy, are struggling with lost income and an uncertain future if her back continues to deteriorate. Insurance claims could take two years to resolve. Hana needs treatment now.

Hana is an avid outdoorswoman and member of the Mazamas. She lives for hiking and backpacking and enjoys deep treks in the forest with their sweet dog, Argo.

Always hardworking and active she ran her own housekeeping business, often working six days a week providing exceptional service. She is honest and honorable and in January, she became an American citizen.

A fund of $65,000 would pay for her immediate treatment in Germany, as well as travel and recovery expenses.

Anything you can do to help her regain her health and mobility would be appreciated.
