Nurse Stations Need Nurturing!
"Its not a simple nursing home. It's a safety net for people who have nothing else." -Tom Gordon
We are a small nursing home located in Fruita, Colorado. Our nursing home, the Courtyard Care Center, strives to deliver quality care with love, compassion, and concern for meeting the needs of each individual. Most of the residents who come and stay at our facility have exhausted their own funds or have no one left to care for them...for most, this will be their last residence.
We have an amazing, dedicated staff of caregivers who day-in and day-out attend to the needs of these special residents. Nurses, CNAs, doctors and support staff all work together to make sure that our residents are well taken care of.
It gets really hard though...we are a 501(c)3 organization which means we rely on donations to support our nursing home and our residents who are mostly Medicaid recipients.
We have a Foundation that raises money which goes directly to the needs of the residents. Unfortunately, our nursing team and their work areas are often on the backburner when it comes to priorities. Most nurses can definitely empathize with this!
Work spaces have not been updated in ages, the paint is peeling off the walls, and staff are tripping over themselves in cramped quarters. Their job as caretaker is hard and thankless enough without adding the fact that the work environment often makes it more difficult for them to do their jobs.
We have a plan to help fix these things, specifically to address the nurse work station areas (which are in desperate need of repairs/updates).
Of course, with every plan there must be the funds to support it, and that's where you come in. The plans are calling for approximately $60,000 in necessary repairs. We simply do not have the money to make these changes or to even keep up with the demand of the repairs...and we are asking for help.
Any donation would do, any amount of support that you could provide would make such a positive difference for our team of caregivers here and ultimately, for our residents we serve. We could never give enough thanks for those who choose to contribute. Just know that you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you helped to put fresh paint on the wall that a resident sees every day or that you helped enlarge the work space for the nurses so that they can be more efficient in their daily tasks.
This would also be a considered a tax-deductible donation since you would be contributing to a 501(c)3 organization.
Every little bit helps. Let's start a "Nurses Helping Other Nurses" campaign and see how far that generosity goes.
Below you will see some pictures of our facility and it's current needs:
Crowded workstation: This would be completely updated to allow for better flow and dual entry. There would be some structural changes to open up the space and make it much more functional.
Our team has long since outgrown this space and it is in desperate need of repairs.
With some structural changes this would be a new med room. It needs a lot of help!
The other side of the potential med room. The renovations would allow for this room to be utilized more effectively after some major structural improvements.
