Hello, friends and family. A lot of you will be hearing this news for the first time, we are still learning how to handle the news ourselves. we only found out 3 months ago and this has been and will continue to be a very time sensitive situation. We are sorry for you having to find out this way. Our mother Susan hammer lost total motor funtion in her right eye that lead her to be diagnosed with a sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma, which is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that spreads extremely fast. Susan had a surgery a month ago that removed 75% of the mass, and within a month it has grown exponentially. While waiting for treatment we got word on December 29th that the cancer has spread to the left side of her optic nerve. The tumor has already wrapped itself around her right optic nerve and carotid artery causing double vision and possibly vision and hearing lost on her right side. Treatment is starting January 9th and will likely make her very sick during and after treatment due to a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. Our mother is the most caring, loving person and has done so much for others. Even after being diagnosed has continued to do for others and still makes sure our family is taken care of. We have made so many memories, and we have so many more memories to come. She's already fought for 2, almost three long months now and we are asking for help with medical bills and that she has peace of mind when she DOES beat cancer!
She unfortunately has been unable to work during this time and may have to retire if she doesn't regain function on her right side.
Much love and thank you for the bottom of our hearts!
