June 26th was pivotal in the life of Heidi McCormick. After suffering for several weeks with headaches and the loss of the ability to verbalize simple words Heidi visited the Emergency Department of our local hospital. Anyone who knows Heidi, understands that this special lady has never been lost for words. This was the first symptom that alerted Michael that Heidi possibly had a medical condition dictating further attention. After examination and a CT scan, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of an egg, but considerably more elongated behind her left ear. With no loss of time, Heidi began a long week of physicians' visits, consults, and ultimately the decision to have surgery to remove this errant, foreign body from her brain. Surgery was scheduled with diagnosis of a very aggressive glioblastoma with limited possibility of a cure.  A Caringbridge site (heidimccormick2) was developed given the number of people wanting to be kept abreast of Heidi’s condition.

The subject line is titled “Halos for Heidi”. Why "Halos for Heidi"? Again, if you are reading this post, you have probably had some relationship with Heidi over the years. Whether it be from the multiple vocations during her life - contractor ombudsman, real estate agent, greeter at Drawing Near to God, or the most positive, outgoing staff person at Mt. Pleasant Dermatology, she is always the person most remembered. She is remembered because she cares, REALLY cares - about God's creatures - man and animal. She walks and talks God's word. She is an apostle of our Lord. No matter what the occasion, she is the one to lift high the spirits with prayer. God has used this loving lady to bring diverse groups together to make one. Now it is our time to lift Heidi up to God, for relief from pain and complete healing, as only the Great Physician and Healer can provide. I am sure that for every prayer, she will receive another "Halo". What more is needed for one of God's Angel?
